Life Education
In the past year, the Life Education Team has organized numerous memorable activities aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of life and fostering positive values. These activities include life education lessons, life education lectures, film appreciation and director dialogues, and creative competitions. Covering various fields, these activities not only enriched students’ lives but also inspired them to exert a positive influence in their studies and daily lives.
1. Life Education Lessons
Life Education Lessons are designed to help students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of life. Through a rich curriculum and activities, students learn to set life goals, appreciate life, respect others, and build friendships. Interactive teaching methods help students realize their responsibility for their lives and establish their goals and directions. This course inspires students to respect life and fosters positive values and attitudes toward living and learning.
2. Life Education Lectures
To build students’ positive and optimistic life values and embrace a positive life and happy campus, the Life Education Team annually invites guest speakers, including disabled athletes, life coaches, entrepreneurs, life education mentors, and parents, to share their experiences. Additionally, the school organizes a lecture titled A Day in the Life of a Funeral Director for senior students. By understanding the guests’ personal experiences, life choices, and philosophies, students cultivate positive values and develop an optimistic approach to facing adversity.
3. Film Appreciation and Director Dialogue
The Life Education Team arranged a film screening and post-screening dialogue, allowing students to appreciate the excellent film Sunshine of My Life. After emotionally connecting with the visually impaired characters in the film, students engaged in a heartfelt discussion with the director, Judy, who is the real-life inspiration behind the story. Judy shared behind-the-scenes stories and her life experiences, deeply moving the students. Through her life story, students learned the importance of positive living, taking responsibility, and demonstrating resilience. This activity also encouraged students to reflect on their roles within their families and to increase their acceptance and respect for their parents.
4. “Love Inspire Life Inspired” Slogan Contest
The “Love Inspire Life Inspired” Slogan Contest aims to inspire students to understand the importance of cherishing and respecting life, and to raise awareness about life education. The competition is divided into junior, senior, and parent categories, encouraging participation across different age groups. This competition provides a platform for participants to showcase creativity and express their commitment to life education. Whether students or parents, participants are invited to reflect on and convey the significant values of life. It also offers a chance for sharing and exchange, promoting broader participation in life education. The judging panel consists of members from the Life Education Team and the Chinese Language Department, ensuring comprehensive evaluation in both content and language. The “Love Inspire Life Inspired” Slogan Contest is an opportunity to spread positive values, encouraging everyone to work together to let life’s brilliance shine in every heart.
5. “Circle of Life” Photography and Literary Writing Competition
To help students develop positive life values and a love for life, the Life Education Team organized the “Circle of Life: Photography and Literary Writing Competition,” inviting teachers, parents, and students to participate. Contestants capture moments of daily life through photography and combine them with poetry or short phrases to highlight the preciousness of life and time. In mid-March 2024, the team displayed over ten award-winning photography and literary works within the school to cultivate students’ positive values and attitudes toward life.
6. Life Education Exhibition and Interactive Booth Games
During Thanksgiving Week, the school held a series of gratitude activities. Themed educational boards titled Cherishing Life were set up for students to learn and reflect, along with two interactive booth games: Life Story Recorder, which collected and played personal experiences, and Imperfect Life, which simulated physical disabilities. These activities allowed students to hear various life stories and personally experience the challenges brought by physical disabilities, helping them to establish positive life values and approach every encounter in life with a grateful heart.
