Release of results of the 2018 HKDSE

Our graduate class hit a home run in the 2018 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination. Three quarters of our students secured JUPAS entry requirements for degree programme. The passing rate of all the academic subjects taken was almost 100%. Comparing with last year, the percentage of attaining Level 5**, Level 5* and Level 5 increased one fold.

Among those high flyers, four candidates who had secured offers of degree programmes in medicine and global business from local universities to realize their dreams of making positive influences to the society shared their secrets of success. LIU Xiaobo, Glodia MUN and WONG Wing Lam, who were our first batch of through-train (Grade 1 to Grade 12) students, as well as LO Chun Hei who joined the school at Grade 7, emphasised a good foundation at younger stage was the key to the right path. With clear objectives, all of them worked diligently since junior high school for each subject and kept practising on the past papers to spot weak areas for improvement. Despite a busy schedule of study, these four students agreed that good rest, enough sleep as well as doing physical exercise was also important to keeping them clear-minded, energetic and focused in class. They were of the view that A-School’s whole-person education broadened their horizon and helped them equip with necessary skills for further quest of knowledge in university.

Through vigorously expanding network with tertiary institutions, a DSE student successfully enrolled in a degree programme at the Waseda University, Japan under the High School Recommendation Admission Scheme, a partnership scheme that we, as the first local school, established with the Waseda University in this school year. A couple of students with artistic talents have also received offers from world famous universities, including Goldsmiths, University of London which is ranked by QS World Rankings in the top five UK Universities for Art & Design and Communication & Media Studies, and Royal College of Music in London which is one of the world’s long-established, largest and most respected music education institutions.

In addition, the graduates of the GCEAL class, prior to the release of AL exam results in August, already received conditional/unconditional offers from world-known universities including University of Oxford, Imperial College London, University College London, University of Edinburgh, UC San Diego, University of Toronto, HKU, HKUST, and CUHK to pursue undergraduate study in Mathematics, Veterinary Medicine & Surgery, Mathematics with Economics, LLB, etc. Each student received at least 3 offers.

Once again, our G12 students prove the school is on the right direction to nurture the students with the unswerving guidance from teachers and support from parents. The remarkable achievements of the students are the collaborative efforts made by all members of A-School family. Carrying the mission of grooming high-calibre talents for the 21st century, we will continue to put the greatest passion to educate our students. As always, the teachers, staff and management team of A-School are committed to working the hardest to help our students achieve excellence!

Congratulations to all graduates on their success and wishing them all the best in their further studies.
