Apart from the HKDSE curriculum, our school also offers non-local curriculums such as GCE A-level and Ontario Secondary School Diploma programme, which are widely recognised by colleges and universities around the world.
IGCSE / GCEAL
A-School offers the international curriculum, GCE Advanced Level (GCE AL/IAL), at Grades 11 and 12. GCE AL is a widely recognised international qualification, taken in over 125 countries, and is accepted as a proof of academic ability for entry to universities worldwide. The syllabuses develop a deep understanding of subjects and independent thinking skills. All the GCE AL subjects offered are administered by either University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) or London Examinations (Edexcel).
The curriculum takes two years to complete. Students normally take four AS-level papers in Grade 11 and continue with three or four A-level papers in Grade 12. Besides, students are required to study the school-based English Language and Chinese Language curriculums which are designed with reference to the framework of IELTS and GCE AL Chinese Language respectively.
A-School has partnered with a Virtual High School in Canada, which is authorised to grant credits for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students follow the school curriculum in A-School from Grade 9 to 12 with a self-financed online top-up programme with the Virtual High School in Grade 11 and 12, leading the road to both HKDSE and OSSD.
A-School is the first and only local school to develop a partnership with the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) in offering a Dual Credit Programme for our students who are interested in pursuing STEM-related programmes in the future.
Students enrolled in the dual credit courses can earn college credits at A-School and then transfer the earned credits to most public and private colleges and universities in the US.
A-School is a pioneer in entering a partnership with the acclaimed, long-established Waseda University in Japan to launch the High School Recommendation Admission Scheme in local secondary schools. Every year, two students will be nominated to the university’s School of International Liberal Studies for direct admission through the recommendation scheme with scholarships to support their learning overseas.
We aim to help students define their educational goals, prepare them for making informed decisions and guide them through a search for a university that best fits their individual needs. We guide students to reflect on their learning, refine priorities, maximize options and present the best vision of themselves for admission to top-ranked universities.
Diverse Learning Experiences
We provide abundant learning opportunities beyond the classroom, both locally and globally, to enhance students’ learning.
Our signature event, namely Uni Tour, allows students to make their way to visit the top universities in the UK. The process of figuring out which university best fits their needs is an overwhelming but critical task. Uni Tour transforms this experience into an enriching and fun summer adventure, in which students can join campus tours, meet with admission representatives and collect information about various universities, facilities and study programmes.
