<<What a wunderbar Friday at HKBUAS!—GMCG Visits💫>>

News date

Last Friday (April 24), our school had the absolute pleasure of hosting special guests from the German Consulate General and the Goethe‑Institut Hongkong. We were honored to welcome Mr. Oliver Bräuner, the Deputy Consul General, and Ms. Stefanie Walter (Cultural and Press Attachée). It was also wonderful to see our friends from the Goethe‑Institut, including Ms. Noemi Hendrich, Mr. Maik Cheung and Ms. Marlen Egle.

A huge thank you to our guests for their visit, and to our hardworking students and teachers for making the day so memorable!👏🏻

Our Modern Languages Department was buzzing with excitement as our students took center stage to showcase their German language skills. From lively performances to inspiring presentations, the talent on display was truly remarkable.🎉

Our Grade 6 students brought the house down with their lively presentation of “Mecki Dudel und seine Band”, while our secondary division students impressed the audience with a fascinating look into the life of the legendary Albert Einstein. We were also treated to some wonderful storytelling—Cyrus (Grade 6) shared the classic “Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten” and Ernest (Grade 8) read a beautiful excerpt from Sarah Jäger’s novel “Und die Welt sie fliegt hoch”.

From curriculum introductions to a full tour of our school facilities, it was a day dedicated to celebrating language and expanding global horizons. We also had a fruitful discussion on the future direction of our Modern Languages learning—exploring opportunities for students studying German, as well as the support and resources offered by the Consulate and the Goethe‑Institut.
