November 3, 2026 – A talented team of students from HKBUAS has achieved extraordinary global recognition by winning the highly coveted Gold Award in the iENA 2026 Junior Award category. The prestigious accolade was presented at the International Trade Fair for Ideas, Inventions, and New Products (iENA), held from October 31 to November 2, 2026, in Nuremberg, Germany.
The school extends its deepest congratulations to the brilliant, multi-grade student team behind this monumental achievement:
JIANG Yu Jie (Grade 10)
LAU Chin Yui (Grade 9)
FUNG Sin Kei (Grade 8)
Competing on a truly global stage against professional inventors, elite universities, and researchers from approximately 35 countries, the students emerged victorious with their groundbreaking eldercare innovation project, "Silver+".
Revolutionary Eldercare Solution: Silver+
Developed to address the critical needs of an aging population, Silver+ is an integrated innovation project designed to fully support the mental and physical well-being of elderly individuals. The system seamlessly combines:
- A newly developed, specialized smartwatch that tracks vitals and physical metrics.
- A dedicated web platform that synthesizes data to offer holistic wellness and emotional support.
Throughout the three-day exhibition at Hall 4 of Messe Nürnberg, the student inventors actively engaged with international visitors, industry experts, and seasoned inventors. They successfully presented their project, exchanged valuable cross-cultural insights, and received highly constructive feedback from the global tech community.
An Elite Diplomatic Exchange
In addition to clinching the Gold Award, the team was granted a rare and prestigious audience with Mr. Cai Rui, the Science and Technology Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Germany. The students were selected to pitch their project development roadmap and long-term vision directly to the diplomat, marking a profound, once-in-a-lifetime international and diplomatic learning milestone.
Celebrating Our Student Pioneers
We are incredibly proud of our students' dedication, empathy, and technological ingenuity. Winning a Gold Medal at iENA, where around 10% of global innovations receive this honor, proves that our students are capable of designing real-world solutions that impact lives globally. We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Eric Chan, Director of Innovation and Digital Learning, who served as the team's lead teacher.
Thank you to our entire school community for your overwhelming support. Join us in celebrating these extraordinary young innovators! 🎊👏
