Iron Excel to High Junk Peak – Primary Division

News date

On the hot and humid Saturday morning of January 12, 2019, the Excel 33P students went on their first Iron Excel hike to High Junk Peak (釣魚翁), one of the three steepest peaks in Sai Kung.
The climb began by going up a short flight of steps near the bus stop of Ng Fai Tin (五塊田).  Climbing up slowly the ridges of Miu Tsai Tun (廟仔墩), the sharp and enticing High Junk Peak towers erected in front of our Excel 33P members took their breaths.  Despite the foggy and humid weather, the young hikers finally reached the summit and enjoyed the stunning scenery. After a long descend down the Country Trail, the adventure was ended by visiting Tai Miu Wan Public Pier(大廟灣公眾碼頭), where a traditional temple was located.
Iron Excel is one of the three components of the Excel 33P, a tailor-made targeted training programme to equip G4 to G6 students with necessary leadership skills and develop mental strength for future challenges. Through a series of adventured-based outdoor challenges and physical training, members will identify their strengths, develop self-confidence and perseverance. Members would be reaching three Hong Kong peaks in 3-day hiking, breaking yet another record in Hong Kong Mountaineering and Climbing Union.
