Service and Leadership Programmes
A-School sees students as future leaders of society and sets the development of their leadership qualities as one of our priorities. We provide opportunities for students to realise their potentials, cultivate what is best within them, and help them flourish through the nurture of positive emotions, engagement, positive bonding with their team members and achievements. These align with the key tenets of Positive Psychology which is the foundation of Student Development in A-School.
3-Level Model of Advancement Support
Level 1
The basic level of the model starts with holistic leadership development programmes for all students based on volunteering and nomination basis. These include uniform groups, community service, outward bound, public speaking programmes, etc.
The Triangular Model of Student Advancement Support
Level 2
Students’ leadership skills are further enhanced through the leadership experiences from our school-based leadership groups in the second level of our model. Students are encouraged to take part in a diverse range of student leadership positions through election, screening or teacher nomination. Student leaders in A-School are allowed to learn and grow with the virtues of servant leaders while they serve their school and community. Student Union, Houses, and Prefects are some of the many leadership teams in our second level of the advancement model. The five houses of our primary division: Kindness, Justice, Courtesy, Wisdom and Faith symbolise the values and character strengths A-School uphold. Student Union connects all students with the school authority to further the well-being and sense of belonging of our students. These student bodies are led by student leaders elected by all students and teachers through an open voting mechanism.
