1. Number of Participants for HKDSE & GCE A-Level Examinations
This year, 89 Grade 12 students sat the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination, while 50 sat the GCE A-Level examination.
2. Results of HKDSE & GCE A-Level Examinations
2.1. HKDSE
Results of the HKDSE exams were released on 16 July. To meet the minimum university admission requirement of 332A+2, students must attain Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language, Level 2 in Mathematics and the extended Mathematics module/one elective subject and achieve an “Attained” grade in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD).
Overall, the exam results are satisfactory, with the average scores significantly exceeding the Hong Kong territory-wide average. The proportion of students achieving all required levels and meeting the general admission criteria for JUPAS programs (332A+2) remains substantially higher than the Hong Kong average.
Among the four core subjects, our students demonstrated a particularly strong foundation in English Language and Mathematics. In English, 72.2% of students attained Level 4 or above. In Mathematics, an impressive 77.5% achieved Level 3 or above, significantly surpassing the territory-wide average. Notably, among students who took the extended Mathematics module in Calculus and Statistics (M1), 85.7% attained Level 4 or above.
Regarding elective subjects, our students significantly outperformed the Hong Kong average in the percentage achieving Level 4 or above in Business Management, Geography, History, Information & Communication Technology, Music, and Physical Education. Furthermore, the proportion of students attaining Level 5**, the highest possible level, in Chemistry and Physics also exceeded the territory-wide average.
Additionally, one notable achievement is that over 20% of our students have excelled, achieving an average equivalent to Level 4 or above across their six subjects.
2.2 GCE A-Level Examination
The GCE AL lower-class students completed their IGCSE examinations in November 2024, and the results were released in late January 2025, revealing an impressive achievement by the students. The GCE class has consistently demonstrated a standard of excellence, as evidenced by 82.2% of candidates scoring an A or above in their subjects. Notably, 58% of the students achieved the highest possible grade of A*, showcasing their exceptional performance, and approximately 30% of the candidates obtained an outstanding 5A*s or above, with the top scorers achieving a remarkable feat of securing 6A*s.
The Upper GCE A-Level students completed their May 2025 examinations with outstanding results, upholding their strong tradition of academic excellence. Notably, 11 students achieved a perfect score of straight A* grades, including 9 students who attained 4A* grades. Additionally, 30% of the cohort secured 3A* grades or above, while 36% achieved at least 2A* grades. Impressively, 76% of all grades awarded were either A* or A, with an exceptional 90% falling within the top-grade range from A* to B. These results reflect the cohort’s remarkable dedication and academic prowess.
3. Other Public Examination Results
Our students also took part in other public examinations, including IELTS and TOEFL.
For IELTS, our GCE students participated in the IELTS examination in the summer of 2024. The overall IELTS average was 7.8, and over half of the GCE cohort achieved 8 or above, with 9 being the highest.
81 students in Grades 7 to 9 participated in the TOEFL Junior in June 2025. In total, 93.8% of candidates attained Score Level 4 or above. 72.8% of candidates attained Score Level 5, which is the highest level. 15 students attained a full score in the TOEFL Junior.
Our school has been honoured with "The TOEFL Best of the Best School Award". This Award aims to recognise schools in Hong Kong for their dedication to the TOEFL tests, fostering improved teaching and academic growth, and celebrating exceptional student achievements in English proficiency. The award evaluation criteria include a long-standing commitment to administering the TOEFL for over a decade, leadership and innovation in using forward-thinking approaches to prepare students for senior secondary studies or the DSE, and sustained success demonstrated by significant academic progress and improved English skills among students. The prize-giving ceremony took place on 25 July.
4. Comparison of Scores with other schools, Hong Kong overall, and the UK
For HKDSE, the exam results are commendable, with average scores significantly surpassing the overall Hong Kong average. A larger proportion of our students met the required levels for JUPAS program admission (332A+2) compared to the territory-wide average.
In the core subjects, our students excelled particularly in English Language and Mathematics. Specifically, 72.2% achieved Level 4 or higher in English, while an impressive 77.5% reached Level 3 or above in Mathematics, both well above the territory averages. Among those taking the extended Mathematics module in Calculus and Statistics (M1), 85.7% attained Level 4 or higher.
In terms of elective subjects, our students demonstrated significant superiority over the Hong Kong average for those achieving Level 4 or above in Business Management, Geography, History, Information & Communication Technology, Music, and Physical Education. Moreover, the percentage of students reaching Level 5**, the top level, in Chemistry and Physics also surpassed the territory-wide average.
For GCE A-Level, our students’ results are significantly more outstanding when compared to other schools locally. Taking the UK boarding school and UK State School league tables as a reference for the performances of our GCE Upper class, A-school ranks approximately 18th among the boarding schools and the state schools in the UK based on the percentage of top grades (A* - A) awarded to students.

Another notable achievement to mention is one Grade 12 student Wong Shun Yat was granted an offer of the Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at HKU through the “Top Athletes Direct Admission Scheme”. Starting her fencing career at a young age, Shun Yat displayed exceptional skills and perseverance. Her prowess is highlighted by a bronze medal win in the women’s foil individual (cadet) event at the 2023 World Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships – a milestone that made her the first Hong Kong athlete to secure a foil medal at the World Junior Championships.
