Biology Field Trip to Chi Ma Wan

News date

Despite the hot weather, our Biology field trip to Chi Ma Wan was a great success.

We were grateful for the guidance and assistance provided by teachers from the Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre (St. Francis Campus). Students had the opportunity to use sampling tools (line transect, belt transect, refractometer, etc.) to collect abiotic and biotic data in order to determine the biodiversity of sandy beaches and muddy water areas. Using these tools, they can figure out the ecological relationship between different organisms and understand their abundance and distribution within an ecosystem.

The students remained engaged and enthusiastic throughout the field trip despite the heat. They gained valuable knowledge and insights from the experience, and they were able to apply their knowledge in analyzing the complex ecological relationships in the ecosystem which is useful to their learning in both core and elective syllabuses.

Overall, the field trip was a great success, and the students came away with a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the importance of ecological conservation.
