Third Win in Sing Tao Inter-school Debating Competition - Advancing to Quarter-Finals

News date

In the 3rd Preliminary of the Sing Tao Inter-school Debating Competition last Saturday, 27 January 2024, our school's English Debating Team achieved an impressive victory over International Christian College, securing a score of 3 to 0.

During the debate, our debaters—Hau In Tang, Kendra Lee, and Mischa Li—demonstrated exceptional skill and determination as they went head-to-head with the formidable opponents from International Christian College. The focus of the debate revolved around the implementation of Good Samaritan Laws in Hong Kong, and as the side opposition, our job was to prove the ineffectiveness of the law and how enacting the law would open up unintended loopholes that would do more harm than good. Our debaters showcased their eloquence and critical thinking abilities with finesse.

Hau In continued to stand out among the participants and was awarded the titles of Best Speaker and Best Interrogative Speaker in this round. Congratulations to Hau In, Kendra, Mischa, and the entire English Debating Team for their remarkable achievements in this competition.

We have finished all the preliminaries and qualified for the quarter-finals three years in a row. Our next match will be on 2 March and we will face St. Paul's College. We look forward to supporting our debaters as they continue their journey in the Sing Tao Inter-school Debating Competition. Let us rally behind them and wish them the best of luck in their upcoming debates.
