Bronze Medal in Cadet Women's Individual Foil at the 2023 Junior & Cadet Fencing World Championships

Congratulations to G10 WONG Shun Yat on winning the Bronze Medal in Cadet Women's Individual Foil at the 2023 Junior & Cadet Fencing World Championships!

Shun Yat has joined A-School since Grade 7 and has always shown her positive attitude and dedication in fencing. She has won the Girls B Grade Foil Individual and Team Champion in the New Territories Secondary Schools Fencing Competition last November with our Fencing Team and has become a Full Time Fencing Athlete in the Hong Kong Sports Institute from February 2023 onwards to fulfill her potential further.

Elize has won the silver medal in Women’s Foil at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships 2023 last month. She didn't slow down but kept working hard to aim and achieve higher. Her dream came true by getting the best ever result for the Hong Kong Women Fencing Team in the World Championships where she overcame the challenges from fencers of different countries until the semi final where she just fell short by the score of 14:15 to the Champion fencer from the UK. 

Shun Yat is a cheerful and passionate girl and well liked by her peers and teachers in school, her never-give-up attitude made her a humble but stronger fencer. Starting in Term 2, she became a full-time athlete. She has been assigned with a flexible timetable to attend lessons in school so that she can receive intensive training with the Hong Kong Fencing Team. 

We wish her all the best and will continue to support her in school so that she can balance both her academic and fencing development. And Elize would also like to pass her heartfelt thanks to the A-School family who showed her great support and love in this important year and she would definitely be happy to share her experiences and joy with us again after she is back from the competition.
