Meeting with Scientist — Professor Lo Yuk Ming

It was our great honour to have Professor Lo Yuk Ming Dennis deliver a speech to our G7-9 students in the OLE period.

Professor Lo is the inventor of Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) — a significant and innovative technology in the last decade. He was awarded the 2021 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, renowned as the “Oscars of Science”. NIPT has been adopted in over 90 countries.

In the talk, Professor Lo shared with us his journey of turning his dream into career, how he was inspired and turned his findings to his research topic, and how it is shared with the community. Our students were inspired by his insightful sharing and actively participated in the Q&A session. Following his talk, Professor Lo also shared his experiences with students who are interested in the biomedical field.

Thanks to the Hong Kong Academy of Science for arranging such an inspiring and meaningful activity for us. We believe that our students have been deeply inspired and encouraged to further develop their passions, beginning to put their dreams into action.
