Writing Skill Enhancement Workshop and Chinese Cultural Trip at East China Normal University

The Chinese Department of the Secondary Division brought Grade 7 students to Shanghai East China Normal University (ECNU) during the Easter holiday from April 16 to 22, 2019 to participate in the Writing Skill Enhancement Workshop and Chinese Cultural Study Trip.

Taught by ECNU’s experienced professors, various approaches, such as debate, reading, and attending lesson with ECNU students, were adopted in the workshop to enhance students' interest and skill of learning Putonghua and Chinese writing.

The group of forty students went to Yu Garden, one of the famous tourist attractions in Shanghai, to explore the elegant garden design and beautiful landscape. They also used the methods they learned in the workshop to record or share their feelings. In addition, the students visited ECNU’s History Museum. With the detailed explanation by the docent, they understood more about the origin and evolution of ancient bronzes, pottery and coins.

The 7-day trip was a fruitful one which benefitted the students a lot. Among them, ten students with outstanding performance were awarded "Top Ten Student Certificate", including CHAN Ho Ching, FU Cheuk Yiu Tiffany, NG Shu Hang, WONG Tsz Ching, YE Yuqiao, CHONG Sum Yin, HUI Chun Hin, LAM Hoi Ching, TSO Tsz Fung and FUNG Wai Ho.
