HKBUAS Master Class: Forging Strength - Inspiring Hope and Embracing Resilience - Learn from history, life experience sharing by Mr. Andrei Iwanowitsch Moiseenko

On March 22, 2024, our school hosted Mr. Andrei Iwanowitsch Moiseenko, a contemporary witness of the Holocaust. As a survivor with a wealth of life experiences, Mr. Moiseenko shared his personal testimony, providing profound insights into this significant period in history.

Mr. Moiseenko, who was held captive in the Buchenwald concentration camp during World War II, recounted his experiences, shedding light on the atrocities committed and the resilience of the human spirit. His presence created an intimate and powerful learning environment, allowing students to connect deeply with the history.

In addition to learning history from Mr. Moiseenko’s firsthand account, he shared that it was the sense of unity and mutual support that carried him through those challenging days.  He and his friends always thought tomorrow would be another new day.  The youth were advised to look to the past in order to envision the future, not just living solely in the present.  In addition, Mr. Moiseenko reminded young people to have a clear mind, listen to different views, and anticipate changes.  The audience were truly touched and inspired by his great and optimistic spirit.
