Variety Show – Come Rain or Shine

The Variety Show “Come Rain or Shine” was held in Hong Kong City Hall on 5 May 2023 as a grand finale to the Arts Festival 2022-2023. A cherished tradition of A-School, the annual Variety Show celebrates the outstanding achievements of our A-Artists in all areas of performing arts.

At the start of the Variety Show was a spectacular combined performance of Greg Gilpin’s uplifting Why We Sing with more than 200 singers and instrumentalists. More fascinating and diverse performances followed, presented by the Secondary Division Orchestra, Primary Division Junior Choir, A-Singers, Primary Division Chinese Dance Teams, Secondary Division Jazz Dance Team, and Secondary Division Chinese Drum Team, ranging from a whimsical medley from Harry Potter to award-winning dances. The newly-founded band Soul Harmonics even performed their original song in the Composition Showcase.

The highlight of the Variety Show was the fully staged and professionally produced English musical Singin’ in the Rain, which had plenty of catchy songs and dazzling dance numbers, stunningly executed by a stellar cast of young actors and actresses. The Variety Show came to a perfect cadence with an exuberant choral reprise of the classic song “Singin’ in the Rain” with captivating choreography, skilled singing, and groovy ensemble playing. It was truly a memorable evening!
