🎬 A Hong Kong First – Our School’s Self-Made Reading Day Animated Story
We are proud to share that A-School has used AI technology to create a Reading Day animated story, produced by our very own Teacher Librarian, Ms. Elva Yeung, together with our students.
Following her earlier success with an animated video illustrating the library rules, Ms. Yeung has now brought reading to life in a whole new way. We believe this is the first time in Hong Kong that a school has transformed reading into an animated story, helping students discover classic books through fresh and innovative storytelling.
✨ The story features our school’s character-building mascot, PERCCI, and his friends, focusing on four classics: Journey to the West, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Little Prince, and Sherlock Holmes.
What makes this project even more inspiring is how we chose the voice actors – students submitted book reports on these four classics to compete for the voiceover roles. The response was overwhelming. Children read deeply, wrote passionately, and gave their all for the chance to voice a character. Their motivation and self-directed learning were truly moving.
📚 Suddenly, book reports were no longer just homework. They became a “golden ticket” to collaborate in a creative animation that belongs to all of us.
We have seen firsthand how this approach sparked students’ genuine excitement for reading and encouraged them to take charge of their own learning. When learning is fun, children give it their all.
