The 2nd Hong Kong Secondary School Cosmetic Formulation Competition 2022

To arouse the interest of students in cosmetic science and allow their chemistry knowledge and experimental skills to be applied, the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong Society of Cosmetic Chemists (HKSCC), and the Cosmetic & Perfumery Association of Hong Kong Limited (CPAHK) co-organized the 2nd Hong Kong Secondary School Cosmetic Formulation Competition, around 70 teams participated in the competition this year.

Congratulations to 11E LEUNG Tsz Ching, 11D LAM Yat Hei, 10C LEE Sze Wing and 10C LEUNG Sheryl Tsz Ching who have worked on the face lotion formulation and won the Merit Award as the 1st-time participants. After learning some essential knowledge about cosmetics formulation from the workshop, they have made more than 30 formulations in the preparation stage and designed different performance tests for each formulation in order to select the best formulation for submission. Despite the time clash with the Term 2 Assessment, our students still managed to work through it, designing a face lotion that is non-greasy, with UV protection, skin whitening and silky texture. They have demonstrated patience, perseverance and excellent time management skills throughout the formulation process.
